About Us

Athlon Training Center works to build an environment where students can grow on and off the mat. We make sure to instill consistency, leadership, and confidence building skills into our students. Whether you are just starting or knocking off the rust, we have fundamentals classes to get into slowly, without competition focus. Our instructors are experienced martial artists who are who they say they are and stray away from toxic instruction. We strive for all our instructors to be approachable for students to talk to and discuss any thoughts, concerns, or issues they may have. Come on in, talk to us, and see what joining the Athlon community can do for you!

History

Athlon Training Center is beginning our martial arts journey with our 2025 opening, led by owner, Jamie Miller. Jamie is a 3rd degree blackbelt, and has been training athletes for over 20 years, beginning his path in martial arts when he joined the Air Force in 1998. There, he learned Jiu Jitsu and has been practicing ever since, earning his black belt. He hopes to build a supportive training environment where hobbyists and competitive fighters can train while surrounded by an encouraging community of athletes.

About Jamie

Jamie’s journey into martial arts began with a love for competition and a deep respect for discipline. Growing up, he wrestled on and off, with football being his main focus. His commitment to athletics carried into middle and high school, where he continued to wrestle and build the foundation for what would become a lifelong pursuit of martial excellence.

In 1998, Jamie joined the military and was introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the same year. Initially training no-gi, he transitioned into Gi training in August 2002 and never looked back. As an Air Force attack pilot and later a defensive tactics instructor for a private military company, Jamie has spent his adult life dedicated to high-performance environments, both on the mat and in service.

Jamie never set out to open an academy. His original dream was to fight. But after relocating to a new area with almost no wrestling presence, people began seeking his guidance. He started by helping local amateur fighters and quickly realized he could do more than just compete, he could teach.

Today, Jamie’s mission is clear, to create well-rounded black belts who can not only perform but also teach and evaluate with confidence. He’s built his academy to be a sustainable learning environment, where students can grow through intelligent training, not fear or injury. It’s a place where martial arts is both a craft and a lifestyle, and every student is guided to reach their highest potential.
